Slag pot and ladle trolleys are rail-mounted transfer machines that move slag pots, hot metal ladles, and teeming ladles between the furnace, the casting bay, and the slag yard. The open U-frame lets an overhead crane lower the pot in and lift it out without repositioning the trolley, and the heavy grating base keeps the load clear of the running gear. A geared motor drives each corner wheel, and the structure, cabling, and electrics are shielded against the radiant heat coming off the load.

Product Variants

  • Slag Pot Trolley: Open U-frame for crane loading and unloading of slag pots
  • Ladle Transfer Trolley: Cradle or saddle seating for hot metal and teeming ladles
  • Flat-Deck Rail Transfer Car: Plain deck car for general hot-side movement

Key Features

  • Open U-frame so the crane can set down and pick up the pot without moving the trolley
  • Heat shields and insulation board isolating drives, cables, and electrics from radiant heat
  • High-temperature cable and heat-resistant grease throughout the drive train
  • Double-flanged wheels with anti-derailment lugs and end buffers
  • VFD soft start and stop to avoid slopping the molten contents
  • Warning alarm, flashing beacon, and emergency stop

Applications

  • Slag pot removal from BOF, EAF, and induction furnaces
  • Hot metal and teeming ladle transfer between furnace and casting bay
  • Slag yard and de-slagging bay transport
  • Foundry and non-ferrous melt shops handling aluminium, copper, and lead

Frequently Asked Questions

What capacities do you build slag pot and ladle trolleys in?

From 10 to 150 ton. The unit shown here is a 30 ton SWL machine. Rail gauge, wheelbase, and deck height are set from your track layout and pot or ladle dimensions rather than from a standard catalogue size.

How is the trolley protected against heat from the slag pot or ladle?

The load sits on a heavy grating and chequered plate deck that keeps it clear of the structure, and heat shields plus insulation board separate the hot zone from the drives, cabling, and electrics. High-temperature cable and heat-resistant grease are used throughout the drive train.

Can the trolley run on our existing rails, and how is it powered?

Yes — the bogies and double-flanged wheels are built to your rail section and gauge. Power can be by cable reel, festoon, or low-voltage busbar, with pendant, wireless remote, or plant PLC control depending on how the trolley fits your melt shop.

Is the slag pot trolley customised to my requirement?

Yes. Every machine we build is custom-engineered — capacity, dimensions, and configuration are matched to your plant. Send your requirement via the enquiry form or call +91 91091 02280 for a firm quote.
